The outcry from concerned citizens about further cuts to the library hours was so loud the City Council has reconsidered its budget cuts for fall. This was made possible in part by a projected increase in sales tax revenue thanks to the local citizenry spending more money locally on purchases.
The City Council voted not to make further budget cuts to library hours for the time being, and even to extend the hours of one library in each district. This decision has an additional benefit for the libraries, too. Vacant staff positions can be filled without the fear of possible layoffs in the immediate future.
Yeah! Taking a stand does pay off.
